Welp, That Sucked

—Episode 2

Episode 2: The Raven

This weekend we braved the heat and humidity to spend a couple hours in the dark watching The Raven, starring John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe. Needless to say, we didn’t feel all that “melancholy” about this movie as much as we felt bored and disinterested. Also in this episode, we briefly discuss just how bad Battleship was and how John Cusack becomes more and more like Nicholas Cage with each new movie he stars in.

Ryan: I’ll always enjoy the first Men in Black movie. I still remember seeing it in theaters and owning it on VHS, and I even remember lines from the theme song. As for the third film in the series, unfortunately I can’t really say that it’s as memorable as the first, but thankfully it isn’t as bad as Men in Black 2. There’s some entertaining dialogue here and there, but ultimately it barely stumbles past that point of being tolerable.Mike: MIB 3 is an unnecessary installment. Even with that being said, the film is still fun/passable. The movie revels in the realm of sci-fi B-movies, which is something I always enjoyed about the MIB franchise with the exception of MIB 2. That movie was garbage. MIB 3 tries too hard to add emotional depth with the characters and in addition, most of the “punch” lines were in the trailers, unfortunately. If you’re unsure about seeing the movie in theaters, then I suggest wait for rental.
